The Zea’s Stout Competition was a success. Jack announced that we had five winners from our club. Be sure to check out the website for pictures from this momentous event. The winning brew will be on tap St. Patrick’s day. Many thanks to Patrick Oneal for all his hard work organizing this competition.

New Business

Details were given for the upcoming brew off to be held at Big Easy Brewery on March 6th. Two rules will be strictly enforced…no glass and no yeast in the brewery. Larry also collected monies from members wanting to purchase wort for $10.00.

Patrick O’Neill announced plans for another Zea’s Brew Off on May 15. This time we will be brewing a wheat base malt brewed on Zeas equipment to cut down on time. There will be a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds will go to benefit Children’s Hospital.

Patrick also announced the Dixie Brewery will invite members for a tour of their facility on March 16th at 4PM.  This is a golden opportunity to experience a piece of Louisiana’s history.

Jack reminded everyone of the upcoming local competition at Crescent City Brewery. The club will reimburse up to two entries per year. The deadline for entries is April 2nd at 5:00 pm.

Cooper Homebrew will give away a 1 yr. subscription to “Brew Your Own” magazine with the purchase of 6 cans of extract. Simply send in 6 UPC labels to redeem this offer. Jack also handed out the most recent edition of “The Brew Newsletter.”

George Parr will put in an order for gaskets that fit the old milk jugs with round lids. The cost is believed to be around $8.00 per gasket. If anyone is interested in placing an order be sure to contact George.
