January 16, 2003Our 1st meeting of the new year was held on January 16th, 2003, at the La. Grill in Covington, La. The limited menu offered to the club was un-expected and we will try to work out that issue if we ever go there again.
All of our new 2003 officers were in
attendance.

Calvin, our treasurer, reported that we had $1578.66 in our account in November and that we now have $1219.66.
Al, our secretary reported that he did not have any minutes to report since the December meeting was the Christmas party, but we do have pictures! George reported that there is still beer left from the party and that you are welcome to stop by his house to help finish it off.
2003 Club dues of $20.00 are now due. Please try to pay by the February meeting. If you are paid before Feb. 1st, you will be issued a Zea's frequent drinker card and will be able to purchase $1.00 pints at Zea's.
We had a few guests in attendance.
Pat Haggerty was a guest of Craig Sollberger,
and both are fine guitarists.
Jesse was a guest of George Parr. Be
careful who you hang out with Jesse!
Adrian was a guest of Jean Junius.
Adrian heads up the Farmer's Market in Mandeville and is a native of Wales.
Old Business
George and Jean discussed setting up a display at
the Farmer's Market on Saturday, Jan. 25th. I hear and see from the
pictures that although cold, it was very successful.
New Business
Bluebonnet Brew Competition will be held Mar.
21-22, 2003.
Crescent City Competition will be held Apr.
2-5, 2003.
Deadlines are usually the day prior to the
start of competition.
Remember that the cost of up to 5 entries will be reimbursed by
the club. If the competition is out of town, you must cover the shipping
charges.
We discussed setting up some sort of training for members who would like to learn more about judging beer competitions. About 5-6 members would be interested. It was decided that we would try a small training session during a meeting starting with a Pilsner.
We raffled off 3 t-shirts and a bottle of
scotch.
The winners were...
Calvin Moorman - t-shirt
Pat Haggerty - t-shirt
Jim Boucher - t-shirt
??? - scotch
(sorry I didn't catch that one)
Elvis was asked to give a brief presentation on yeast starter techniques. I personally gained quite a bit of useful knowledge from him. Let's keep doing these each meeting so that we can all learn a little more about our hobby.
See ya next month.
ENDLESSLY ROCKING!!!!
