October 17, 2002 Our October 2002 meeting was held on the
patio at The Columbia Street Tap Room in beautiful downtown Covington. We
began the meeting at 7:39 pm this evening. We started the meeting with our
usual toast to Reinheitsgebot, the often-disputed German beer purity law.
Here are a couple of web pages for more info on Reinheitsgebot.

David was a guest tonight. He is a
bartender at the Abita Brew Pub. Mike’s neighbor Ken also came to enjoy
homebrew with us. Please invite David and Ken to visit with us again
sometime soon.
Our President, Ron LaBorde recently visited
Kentucky and told us of the fun time he had dancing “the wild thing”
clogging.
The Secretary reported that the minutes of
the last meeting were sent out to all members and posted to the website.
The Treasurer reported that as of this
meeting the club had $1841.52.
Old Business was opened to the floor.
It was announced that Oktoberfest would be
the weekend of October 19th-20th in Ponchatoula and anyone going should keep
their tickets to be reimbursed by the club.
New Business was opened to the floor.
It was suggested that the club set up a
tasting booth at the Farmers’ Market sometime next year. George
mentioned that he has a club poster for display and that he would rally the
troops for the booth.
Mike had a handout on his beer process.
Jack suggested that the club try to find a
permanent meeting place. The members gave a quick vote and decided to
continue floating the meeting places.
Doc Jeff asked if the club could buy more
shirts for the raffles. It was put to a vote and the club unanimously
decided to purchase $100.00 worth of t-shirts for the raffles.
Ron reminded us that the Winterfest was
coming up on November 20th.
Club officer elections are coming up soon. We will
nominate and elect our 2003 officers at our November 21st meeting.

club’s 2002 Christmas party as long as we promise not to trash his house!
It will be held Saturday, December 7th. The club will purchase a
“good” keg of beer for the party.
Show and Tell was opened to the floor.
Jean Junius showed us his awesome brewing
setup.
The beer tasting commenced. I drank way
too much and my wife wasn’t too happy, but that’s a story for another day…
