Our October 16th, 2003 meeting was held at the Columbia St. Tap Room in Covington, La.

Jack, visiting from Alabama, was a guest of Larry Hartzog 
Greg and Arlene were guests of Keith Chasteen who came down to help him move to Kentucky. 

Jason, who received the torch early, read the minutes from the September 18th meeting.

Calvin, our Treasurer, reported that we had $1916.16 in our club account.

 

Old Business

Everyone was reminded of the Zea's Stout competition that will take place January 17th, 2004. All entries should be in by January 3rd 2004. Patrick is looking for judges to volunteer.

New Business

Jack Shugg, our President, announced that the 2003 Christmas Party will be held at his home. It will start around 4:00 or 4:30pm December 14th. Members are asked to bring snacks, desserts, or potluck. Jack said we can keep him awake as long as we desire.  He also asked that our local breweries donate the beer. 

Mike Owings announced that anyone with a Yahoo email address would not be able to receive MKOB mail. Jason has mkob.com email accounts for any member who would like one. Mike offered to help anyone who needs help setting up yahoo users to receive mkob.com mail.

 

Calvin Moorman made a motion to restrict the club's reimbursement of competition entry fees to dues paying members only.  This motion was seconded and after discussion, the motion carried.  A score sheet or a cancelled check will be required in order to receive reimbursement.  Calvin Moorman made a motion to limit the number of competition entry fees the club would reimburse to five per year per member.  This motion was seconded and after discussion, the motion carried.

The BEER tasting. There were many great beers sampled tonight. The beers that stood out the most were Jack Shuggs Barley wine and Jeff's Mead that was 11 months old. We can't forget Gabe's Hopzilla, this was a palate quencher.
