September 19, 2002
Our September meeting was held on September 19th, 2002, at the Columbia Street Tap Room in Covington, La.
Calvin, our treasurer, reported that we
have $1850.52 in our account. It was good to see all of you again. And now I even know some of your
names!!! Thanks to Elvis and Peter for the musical entertainment.
Be safe, be happy, and drink good beer!!!
ENDLESSLY ROCKING!!!!
I reported that due to my absence from the
August meeting, I was unable to give a secretaries report. Doc Jeff
actually took notes for me, but to be honest, I haven't had the time to even
attempt to decipher them.
Old Business - Ron informed us that he did
finally sell his monitor.
MKOB bottle openers are in. Each member in attendance
received 2 openers and an official nametag. Jean made the nametags and did
a fine job. Thanks Jean! It was recommended that we keep the tags in
our cars' glove box.
Craig Solberger gave us a rundown on the Emerald Coast Beer
Tasting/Beer Olympics held on Sept. 6th & 7th. He said that they had a
great time, Jim got smashed, the wind blew hard, the surf was rough, Larry
didn't have horseshoes, and a local jazz radio D.J. told them about his ingrown
toenail and diarrhea. Sign us up for next year!!!
New Business - Dixie Cup will be held Oct.
19th-20th, 2002. All entries should be turned in by Oct. 4th. The
entry fee is $6.00 each.
Winterfest will be Nov. 16th, 2002. Ron has tickets for
$20.00.
Our Raffle yielded the following results...

Mike Owings

Ron Laborde

Show & Tell - Mike Owings showed us his Reflectometer. It's a cool
device that gives gravity readings of un-fermented wort and wine.
Jean told us about a local welder who welded 3 nipples onto a stainless steel
container for about $35.00. Contact Jean if you need any work of this type
done. He can get you his name & phone number.
The Auction was held and Jean put a nice terracotta wine bottle cooler up for
auction with a starting bid of $5.00. It sold, to me, for $5.00. My
wife loves it!
Final Friday is coming up again on Sept. 27th. Let's all meet on the
street and drink some homebrew. Contact Jack Shugg to coordinate meeting
places and times.
Elvis told us of a new technique he is developing where he uses 1 green apple
Jolly Rancher to prime each beer. It gives the perfect amount of
carbonation and a nice fruit flavor.
